Technology & Literacy

Our world has become an increasingly Digital Nation, which is the title and topic of a PBS documentary and point of interest.  One aspect of this controversy and intrigue is education and more specifically Literacy.  After watching the documentary and further interviews  I created a prezi to distill the issues and point out the controversy.  It can be seen here.

  1. Couldn't see prezi. The presentation you wanted to join either did not exist, or it has already ended.

    1. I updated the link a few days ago, so it should work.

    2. It worked! I enjoyed your prezi. Did you find prezi to be difficult to learn or easy enough? I enjoy using it myself. You ask good questions in your presentation about the relationship between literacy and technology. Sounds like good research potential. Can't believe Boo Radley has a facebook account :)

  2. I didn't find prezi too hard. However, if the order or zoom gets too messed up it is often easier to start over than try to fix, at least for me. It creates really neat and impressive-looking presentations.

In my research, I learned that it is a relatively common assignment to have students combine literary characters and social media. Sometimes students are put into groups and each have to make a facebook account for a character and then have the characters interact. Definitely a neat idea for a project and interesting way to test comprehension, creating, and application (and nearly every level of Bloom's Taxonomy at once!).
